Peas Pulao/Green Peas Rice..

Peas pulao is a rice dish similar to Jeera Rice except for green peas which is added to the rice when it is cooked.
This is also a another rice dish which is simple, easy to make and kids friendly!!
The white and green color combination makes it look very attractive inspite of its simple taste.
Here is the recipe:

Ingredients:

Green Peas- 1 Cup(frozen or fresh)

Basmati rice- 2 Cups

Oil and Ghee(combined) - 2 Tbsp

Bay leaf-one

Cumin seeds-1 Tbsp

Green chillies- 2 small slit length wise

Cloves- 2 nos.

Cinnamon- a small piece

Salt to taste

Procedure:

1.Wash the basmati rice,drain the water and set aside.

2.Heat oil and ghee in a pan or a rice cooker and once hot, add the bay leaf, cloves, cumin seeds and saute for two mins.

3.Add the green chillies, green peas and the rice and fry till the rice turns bright (about 5 minutes).

4.Add water and salt and wait till it starts to boil.Check for the salt and spice levels now and adjust it accordingly.If you feel the rice is spicy, you can discard the green chillies at this stage.

5.Close the lid and cook until rice is done and is separate.The rice and peas should not become mushy.

6.Fluff it up with a fork or ladle and serve hot with any curry or gravy of your choice. I served it with Gobi Capsicum curry and it was yummy!



Lot of variations can be made to the rice by adding paneer or cauliflower along with the peas.
